Christian Non-Conformism in East & West:Modern-Day Challenges. Day1
The influence of the ideology of the "Russian World" on the political developments in Russia, as well as its geopolitical threats and theological implications, will be the subject of the panel discussion of leading Orthodox theologians. The catalyst for this gathering was the recently approved "Edict of the XXV World Russian People's Council", titled "The Present and Future of the Russian World." "The Wheel" has published a detailed analysis of this document by Prof. Serhii Shumylo of the University of Exeter including the historical review of the development of the "Russian World" doctrine and the WRPC. The panel will consider the following questions: Development of the "Russian World" ideology and WPRC as its vehicle The unique status of WRPC in its quasi-ecclesial (super-ecclesial) aspects. Can the teaching about the "Russian World" and the pronouncements of Patriarch Kirill be considered a heresy? The responsibility of the Orthodox oikumena, especially, but not limited to, the synods of the Orthodox Churches. The unprecedented Resolution #2540 of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe that accuses Patriarch Kirill and the ROC hierarchy of being complicit in war crimes and crimes against humanity. The panelists include: Sr. Dr. Vassa Larin Dr. Pantelis Kalaitzides Archimandrite Cyril Hovorun Rev. Dr. Brandon Gallaher Archdeacon John Chryssavgis Subscribe to The Wheel: https://www.wheeljournal.com/subscribe Support The Wheel: https://www.wheeljournal.com/donate
