The Orthodox Fraternity

by Denys Clément

The Orthodox Fraternity in Western Europe was born and took form in a specific historical context: the arrival in Western Europe of immigrants from several Orthodox countries. There were the Greeks and Russians first, then Serbs, Romanians, and Lebanese. The settlement of these Orthodox Christians in Western Europe resulted in the juxtaposition of several jurisdictions, each representing its ethnic group.

Denys Clément

Denys Clément is president of the Orthodox Fraternity of Western Europe. Married and the father of four children, he works a doctor and obstetrician-gynecologist at the Institut Hospitalier Franco-Britannique in Paris. He is the son of Olivier Clément. As an Orthodox Christian, he is interested in faith and modernity, and endeavors to grapple with the ethical questions raised by prenatal diagnosis and other new medical practices.
