Exorcism in the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese: “And Let My Cry Come Unto You.”

by Alexander Chetsas

As a child of the 1970s, The Exorcist was the stuff of legend for my friends and me. Older siblings spoke of it in knowing whispers; I often—and unsuccessfully—pleaded my case to my parents, begging for permission to see the movie.

Alexander Chetsas

Rev. Dr. Alex Chetsas is the presiding priest at Saint Gregory the Theologian Greek Orthodox Church in Mansfield, MA. He is also an adjunct instructor of English and communications at Bentley University and Nashua Community College. Teaching—and learning—within both the church and the classroom is very close to his heart. He holds a Master of Arts in English Literature from Salem State University and a Master of Divinity from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology. In May 2024, he completed the Doctor of Ministry program at Emory University’s Candler School of Theology.
